  • Do you find birds fascinating?… What is your favorite species of bird and why?

    Posted on March 25th, 2009 bird_lover 1 comment

I was just wondering if anyone out there finds birds as incredibly beautiful and fascinating as I do, I really am astounded sometimes by the sheer diversity of bird species on this planet and how unique and specialised birds can be.. and how many different songs and sounds they all make. I really love watching birds and listening to them, finding out what species they are etc, the bird world never ceases to amaze me! If I had to pick just one favorite I guess it would have to be the Common Loon because they are so pretty and make the most beautiful sounds…. Whats your favorite bird species and why??

    1. Of course I find birds fascinating….I am an ornithologist and study birds for a living. Also do a lot of birding on my off time too..love traveling to different states to see all kinds of different species and rarities. My favorites are two little song birds, Wrentits and the Orange-crowned Warbler. Have studied both species and they have SO much personality! Definitely very intelligent birds, and both species are rather feisty. When the Orange crowns get bad or especially territorial they will sort of raise their orange crown as a threat.
