Doves in the Flowerpot
Posted on September 22nd, 2009 No commentsSometimes, Nature gives us unexpected gifts. Such was our great fortune when a pair of mourning doves decided an unplanted flowerpot on our back deck railing would make an appropriate location for the birth of their little ones.

Would it be advisable to hand raise any of these bird species?
Posted on April 5th, 2009 1 commentI am interested in keeping some of these birds some time in the future, and was wondering if they would get on, and if hand raising would make them better pets. I have hand raised a duckling before with good results.
These are the types of birds I'm interested in:
geese, swans, turkeys, chickens, peacocks, quails, ostriches, ducks, phesants, guinea fowl, doves ect
at the moment peacocks intrest me the most. -
What are the most common bird species living around North East America?
Posted on March 24th, 2009 1 commentI live in Montreal and I'm just curious of the names of the species of birds that live around here. I know robins, sparrows, chickadees, crows, blue jays, doves, cardinals and pigeons but there are tons I don't know the names of. Mainly those little brown ones with the bright green stripe on their neck that are always fishing for worms in my yard!

What kind of bird food attracts the largest variety of bird species?
Posted on March 19th, 2009 1 commentI live in Fort Pierre, South Dakota, and I've been fascinated by birds for as long as I can remember. Recently, my grandfather and I built two plastic-bottle birdfeeders. We don't usually see a lot of blue jays, but they *do* live in the area. I want to attract as many different species as possible. Will standard mixed bird feed work, or is there anything special to attract specific birds in the area? A few examples of some of the birds that I want to attract are blue jays, robins, chipping sparrows, other sparrows, finches, doves, and common grackles (locally known as "blue-headed blackbirds"). It doesn't have to be just those species, though.
Anyway, an answer would really be appreciated. Thanks for the help. -
Bird Breeding questions?
Posted on March 19th, 2009 1 commentI want to breed doves, more for hobby than for profit. I was just wondering how the bird breeding buisness is and if their are any other branches of bird breeding that are more profitable.
