Wow. That Bird Sure Can Scream!
Posted on May 16th, 2009 No comments
“Screaming. Somebody reinforced the heck out of that behavior.” I said to myself. Misty, a double yellow headed Amazon parrot, lived with me for only a few weeks. She was there so that I could put some of her vocal behaviors on cue. However it quickly became apparent she had a few other behaviors that needed to be addressed first. Before her stay with me she resided with Jill Bell for six years. Prior to that time her history is pretty fuzzy. She is estimated to be 19 years old. This meant screaming could have been reinforced for at least 13 years. It must have been, because it was STRONG. Misty was relentless. I’d leave the room; she’d scream and scream and scream.

business of bird breeding?
Posted on March 22nd, 2009 1 commentOk so my girlfiend and I have these finches that are/ have breed. We have a 45 cubic foot cage so we have room but we are looking to sell the offspring because we've read the parents can become hositle to their young when its time to leave their care. We are also anticipating more litters of birds to come. We have found a non corporate chain pet store that wants to buy our birds because its less stress on the birds if they dont have to get shipped from well wherever they get them. But they need to keep all their business dealings legit and on paper so we are required to have a tax ID number and a registered business name and the works. The thing is even if we do set up all this our "business" will deffinately not be a profitable business since the birds will sell for like a piece. Can someone give me advice?
